Fine for what I needed.
Enjoyed the historic character of the hotel. Meals were good and location was fine. Accessibility to room was a bit difficult.

In Need of Refurbishment - Staff unfriendly
This hotel is very old and looks nice on the pictures, but the staff just laugh around with each other and treat the guests as unwelcomed visitors intrudiing on their fun The breakfast is small and of poor quality. The floors are creaky, the decor is in need of refurbishment. When we arrived the receptionist didnt say hello or welcome, they waited for us to speak. They never said anything to us whiole we were there and would often take telephone calls in the middle of helping us with an enquiry! Our room had water talks above and every time someone switched on the hot water, you would hear the tankis refilling, it was very loud and would wwake us up in the morning. Rooms are cramped and dark. Location of the hotel is the only good thing about it.

Rather overpriced for a pretty average hotel
Although The Falstaff is in a great location in Canterbury it is nothing special. It is overpriced for a hotel that definitely needs a refurb. The breakfast is also pretty average: the continental is all prepacked stuff and although we were given a menu for the cooked breafast which looked lovely, when we came to order we were told that only the traditional English was available! Given that we stayed on a Saturday night in August (surely when you would expect them to be trying their hardest) we didnt feel we had had value for money at all and whould have been better off with a Travel Lodge.
