Simple European Hotel Room

It was funny to watch all the church groups steal food from the breakfast room as they were about to go get a Papel blessing....

Watch out for the crooked Taxi drivers

The Grand Hotel Olympic - Aurum - Relaxing, Friendly and Convenient, With Comfortable Charm

My recent stay at the Grand Hotel Olympic - Aurum in Rome was a delightful combination of relaxation, convenience, comfort and charm. I found both staff and other guests -- and the city’s residents -- to be quite warm, friendly and helpful, and the generous continental breakfast each morning was an excellent start to the day, as well as a welcomed opportunity to meet and visit with other hotel guests. The rooms and lobby displayed a simplistic, calming quality of classic elegance and style and were extremely quiet -- especially soothing after a long flight or day of touring and sightseeing. Just "up the hill" from St. Peter’s Square and Vatican City, the venue is very close to many of the most celebrated and well-known sites, monuments and points of historical siglnificance and beauty in the Eternal City. Because of its wonderful blend of modern convenience and "Old World Charm", the Olympic - Aurum has the perfect atmosphere in which to relax after a day (and night) of walking through and experiencing the truly breathtaking beauty of the art, architecture, history, culture, people and design -- as well as the fascinating balance of ancient and modern found in Rome. I plan to stay there again in the near future -- and I hope you will, too. It will surely enhance your visit and its many vivid, treasured memories.

Since great restaurants and cafes abound throughout the city, you can count on excellent dining most everywhere -- so you don’t necessarily need to plan ahead or make reservations to enjoy excellent food and beverage.

Around the corner from the Vatican

We choose this hotel due to its close proximity to the Vatican. It was a short walk and many nice restaurants along the way. The hotel offers a decent breakfast and the morning staff is very helpful in answering sightseeing questions. If they don’t know, they’ll "google" the answer. They were great! Two bus lines run near the hotel so it makes an affordable ground transportation easy to get around the city.
