Stratos Vasillikos - Athens
Hotel is not downtown, Acropolis is 25-30 min walk, but some museums are within 15min walk. Location was quiet, and grocery and restaurants nearby. Hotel was clean and staff friendly, Peter (english name) is our hero, he took very good care of us. Food was very good. Jr. Suite is very spacious with terrace. English speaking TV is limited (CNN, BBC) but everynight could find english movies with greek subtitles. Our stay was 6 nights and we enjoyed our stay. Yes, we would be comfortable returning to this hotel.
From the Stratos Vassilikos a taxi from the Plaka (at night) can cost 20-24 euros, otherwise you walk or take the Metro.

Very nice hotel. I will stay here again.
Hotel service was great. Mr. Kastos was a great help in booking tours, helping with the city transportation, etc.. We were very happy with our stay, and will stay here again.

Friendly hotel
Really nice hotel, slightly out of town but near buses and tube. Staff really friendly, everything nicely furnished, great breakfasts. Big bathroom and balcony, only drawback was that the beds were quite hard.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Use the metro, tram and buses, only 3 euros for a day ticket and with that you can even catch a tram from syntagma square to the supriingly nice beaches at kolomaki or edem. A sunlounger and parosal 4 euros. Worth it on a hot day!
