We looked forward to coming home at the end of each day

This is a very comfortable and attractive hotel. It is within easy walking distance of the center of Florence, and allowed us to take a diffeent route into town every day, seeing new parts of the town with each trip. Good neighborhood, just on the river. Staff very friendly and glad to help with any problem or request.

Do not travel second class on any trains going to Florence. Train from Paris was a miserable experience. First class might have been more bearable.

Heated like a care home

The rooms are nice and a fair size but the air conditioning did not work and the rooms are not sound proofed, so you get traffic noise 24/7. The heat was unbearable especially in the foyer and rooms. The buffet breakfast could do with some improvement, and the buffet dinners were disappointing. Quite a walk into the centre of Florence, which suited me fine but anyone with mobilty problems would need to take taxis. The guy serving at the American Bar wasn’t the happiest of people. A decent enough hotel for the cost but thing special.

not as advertised

we were confirmed a double superior room which was advertised as "a view over the river Arno and on the Florentine hills." we were given a room that only overlooked the back of other buildings including laundry hanging on lines. also we were given a room designed for handicapped persons. we are not handicapped. so the bathroom was extremenly inconvenient. we requested a change right away but were told that there were no other rooms available.
