Good for a budget

This is a great hotel if you’re doing PV on a budget. I will say, the one huge + was being on the 5th floor and having the beach right out your balcony.BEAUTIFUL. The staff was also very friendly. The actual hotel, especially the amenities were lacking. This is NOT a resort. It’s very bare bones. The food and drink, were well below average. We didn’t eat dinner there once because it looked so bad. If you stay don’t do the all-inclusive. PV is a cheap place to go so getting your own drinks and food isn’t a big deal. It’s about a 15-20 min walk along the boardwalk to get to the bars/clubs. Like I said, I would recommend it to those looking to budget and who like the location, but I personally would try another hotel in the future.

Traveller's tip on dining

Go to Cafe de Olla. SO GREAT. Had 4 huge drinks, guacamole, a dinner with shrimp, lobster, and filets, and dessert all for under $80 (US). SO good we ate there twice.

Don’t stay here, it just sucked

Luckily we only stayed at this hotel for one night. The beds were hard as a rock, the room was dirty. The only light that worked was in the bathroom. The toilet did not flush. The water out of the shower smelled. It was not a nice experience.

lots of room to improve

Best word to describe this hotel is Compound. Felt more like a number than a guest. Half expected to have to sign and initial for a meal tray as well as the remote, keys, towels etc. Ocean front room was great but still wouldn’t return. Have stayed in the Zona Romantica 12 years annually and this was the first time at San Marino. Gave them a shot but not again. Unusually rude staff for this part of town.
