Overrated!!!!!!

This was our first vacation to Barbados. We were told that The Fairmont was, bar none, one of the premier hotels on the island. We decided to go this route, rather than an all-inclusive resort, to allow us the flexibility to explore different dining arenas and really take in the island. Upon arrival, we were unimpressed with the resort. It had an older feel and the staff were certainly not overly friendly. The oceanview from our room was definitely the highlight of this hotel. The prices were ABSURD!!! I wish someone had informed us that BREAKFAST runs $75 AMERICAN DOLLARS per day!!! So you can expect a $300-$500 dinner bill per evening, to include a bottle of wine. So, buyers beware! You will break the bank unless you have an ENDLESS cash flow. Lastly, the off-season is VERY QUIET. The hotel was at less than half capacity, therefore whether we dined at the hotel restaurant or one of the many restaurants on the island, we were maybe one of three other diners. It is a beautiful island with gorgeous beaches, but I would rethink an all-inclusive on the Southern part of the island where it is busier.

Traveller's tip on dining

The Cliff was an exceptional dining experience---Again, a $500 evening...but incredible food, service and ambiance.

Exelent place for relaxetion. Exelent service and accomadations with a

Excellent service and accommodations with an old charm. All rooms are water front with the grate view. Very private setting. It’s Hotel - Boutique, Hotel-Garden. There’s an old English tradition of the afternoon tea, which is free, with the best scones, other baking creations and tea sandwiches, charming and very tasty. The atmosphere is very warm, every single person is important, people, who are working there, make you feel as a dear guest.

Traveller's tip on dining

Recommend very much the nearby restaurant Calabazza. The setting, service, and , especially food so delicious, you will never want it to end!!!
