Excellent for convenience to airport
Excellent for 1st or last night in town. Not far from city center, but very tedious cab ride to center in traffic. They offer limo service from airport, with uniformed person waiting outside customs; I arranged for it and felt it was worth the fee to have someone waiting to pick me up upon my late-night arrival.
Traveller's tip
Cabs really were cheap. All metered nowadays. They charge by distance, despite having to cope with stop-and-go traffic. And they have to buy gas at near U.S. prices!

The old Omni hotel is still good
I have stayed in the same property years ago when it was called Omni Saigon. The advantages used to be its proximity to the airport and nice restaurants. The disadvantage used to be its distance to downtown (not a great distance, but traffic in the city is horrible). The advantages still remain. The disadvantage has become a bigger handicap because traffic is worse now, and it seems they are building a subway train system right under the road in which the hotel is located which makes the traffic even worse. Once the subway is built, however, the place should be terrific providing access to downtown within minutes.

Movenpick Ho Chi Minh Saigon
This was my second stay at Movenpick this year, last time I was there in January of this year, I happen to arrive in Ho Chi Minh on my Birthday, and took a standard single room, Hotel staff was very good, next day on my birthday upon my return from my work I found a nice big Birthday Cake in my room and a free dinner coupon courtesy of hotel management. This last visit I made reservations via Expedia for a Executive room which cost me about the same as single room without discount. The executive rooms are special, internet access, breakfast, and up to 4 pieces of laundry is included, plus you have a nice happy hour on the 7th floor. This is Hotel is very good in both quality and service.

Good location
This hotel is just 15 mins or so from dist. 1 in Saigon and perhaps 10 minutes to the airport. If you have an early morning flight this can save you a few minutes sleep.

Nice business trip stay at the Moevenpick Ho Chi Minh City
I stayed at the Moevenpick hotel in Ho Chi Minh City on a recent business trip. I was very happy with the hotel and service. The breakfast buffet was very nice and kept me well fed. My primary complaint was that the wireless internet service had very poor access to outside websites, and I was generally not able to access my personal or company email while at the hotel. The wireless link worked reliably to my PC - the issue was either in filtering or outside access.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The Moevenpick Hotel Saigon is not far from the airport, and happened to be convenient to the business office that I was visiting. A taxi ride would be necessary to District 1 and the tourist areas, if that is of any interest. The taxis are not too expensive, and the staff will help ensure that you are put into a reliable taxi.

Satisfied but not totally impressed
I stayed at Moevenpick recently on my trip back to Vietnam. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. The breakfast is excellent, too bad I didnt get to try out the drinks at the bar there or use the pool as it was under construction. Also, I was surprised at how small the executive room is. Its a bit snug for two people staying there...overall, a good experience with the place but not totally impressed for a 4 star hotel!
