Rome Break
Very good location and great value as a base to explore Rome for a few days. Helpful staff and the roof area a bonus. Basic breakfast provided - plenty of good places to eat a walk away. Would go back anytime

Quaint hotel, quiet neighborhood
The hotel was very nice and the rooms are immaculate. Prior reviewers complained about the lack of hot water, but this was not a problem at all. The bathrooms are very modern for a European hotel. The hotel was on a back street but it provided no problems and it was quiet at night. The Colosseum is a short walk away and you can even walk to the Vatican if you are up for a 40 minute leisurely walk. The hop on-hop off bus stop is a block from the hotel and makes it easy to get around the city if you dont want to walk. The hotel also offers a fairly extensive free breakfast each morning. The rooftop patio offers fanatastic views of Rome, especially at sunset.

Tired hotel
We stayed at the Colossseum for one night in October. We found it to be tired and in need of redecoration. The overall impression is very dark. Walls were scuffed from people opening and closing their luggage. We thought there was no safe; it wasnt until in the morning that we found an old fashioned safe in a wall. There was no minibar, no paper or pencil to write anything--nothing. This hotel is VERY basic. We had an early flight, so did not stay for breakfast. The location is good for walking, just down the street from Santa Maria Maggiore on a dimly lit side street. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
