You get what you pay for
Stayed at this hotel 2 nights. Not bad, considering the price. Room small, bathroom extremely small, but for an overnight or short trip it is very manageable. Wouldnt recommend taking kids here because of the numerous "sex" stores in the area and the overall atmosphere of the neighborhood. That being said, it isnt far to the central train station (10 min walk). Also, there is a U-Bahn station right around the corner from the hotel. This was extremely convenient.
Buy the Hamburg Pass and hop on and off of the U-Bahn all over Hamburg. This also allows unlimited bus access and discounts at most of the major tourist attractions.

Not impressed
Entrance and stairs to rooms steep with small steps on curving staircase to the rooms, frankly dangerous especially when carrying luggage - no elevator. The single room I was given was tiny. Hotel is fine if you are young and want a low cost place to crash in the city. The buffet breakfast was adequate and as one would expect at this price.
