Stay Here Only If You Expect The Best

From the minute you drive up to the Grand Hyatt Beijing, you are made to feel welcome. The facilities and service are first class in every way. The reception desk and conciere staff are very knowledgeable and were very helpful. It was so nice for a "foreigner" to be able to communicate in China. The Made In China restaurant food is outstanding, especially the famous Peking Duck. A little pricey, but worth it. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is one of the best, but be willing to stretch your wallet. Oh.....and the pool is amazing. It is called the Oasis....need I say more?

Go to the Silk Market for "knockoffs".....the best I have ever seen. Allow plenty of time as the place is huge. The vendors are willing to bargain, so bring your finesse. Also has two floors of Chinese arts and crafts and any type of souvenir you could want.

Outstanding Hotel

The Grand Hyatt was literally a breath of fresh air in stuffy, smoggy Beijing. We were upgraded to a suite at no charge. The room actually got "too cold" from the air conditioning. The hotel is a business style property, but the amenities were quite nice, including an in-room massage. The restaurants were clean and the food was quite good, though pricey (especially the wines). Great location, but it is NOT within walking distance of Tian Anmen Square or the silk market, as advertised. It is about a block and a half to the Metro, so it is accessible to the rest of the city.

Grand Hyatt Beijing truly 5 star

A great experience from top to bottom. These people really get five star in every way. I highly recommend it if you do not mind parting with the money. It is very expensive. In particular the breakfast buffet was not as nice as other five stars I have stayed at yet was the most expensive I have ever seen.
