would never visit again

The staff were extremely rude. the whole hotel is in need of some major refurbishment, and our room was filthy. Housekeeping walked into our room at 9am whilst we were getting dressed and wanted to know how long we were likely to be because she wanted to clean our room - even though we did not have to check out til 11am. The bathroom was in such a state that we decided it would be safer not to have a shower. We were then refused the breakfast that we paid for, because the guy on reception had entered it on the system wrong. We finally got breakfast after producing our booking form, which we ate off a dirty table and it was cleared away before we were finished.

Dirty and in need of repair

This hotel resembles a badly run elderly residential home. On arrival we were told that the twin rooms had all been taken despite the fact that we had booked the room over a month in advance. We were then shown to a smoking room despite stating that we wanted non-smoking. The alternative was a double room, which would not be any good for us as we needed to seperate beds. In the end they struggled to find a double room that had a sofa bed. We accepted this as the best offer we were going to get and the receptionist told us that the porter would come to the room to make the sofa bed. When the porter arrived he dumped the bedding on the table and only opened the sofa bed up at our request. Feeling embarrassed to ask him to make the bed we did it ourselves. The cups in the room were dirty and the overall feel was dirty. Breakfast was ok with a good selection of hot foods. The staff at the hotel were generally polite but not efficient. I would not recommend this hotel and will not be going back.

We tried to find somewhere to eat local to the hotel but there was nothing except a pub, which was adequete but not exactly fine dining.
