Nice Hotel- Awful Location

Face it- the reviewers gave this hotel more credit than what it is worth. Even the map made it look closer to the action that what it really is. CON: No spa, pool or even attractive scenary. My bedroom window looked out into an abandon building. The neighborhood that surronds this hotel is run down. Nothing to do- not even a movie theater. Most people take a cab- about 30 minutes to the malls, shopping alleys and basically any life outside of the neighborhood that you don’t want to vacation in. The money saved on a room is money spent in a cab going to/from this hotel. Most taxi cabs don’t know about this hotel (or straight-up lie to you) and will take you to the Regal Hotel (not Regal Oriental Hotel) in Kowloon. I was lucky and got one of the reception personnel to write down this hotel in Chinese characters. PRO: Despite the run down buildings and awful location, the neighborhood has some pretty cheap prices on the same goods you would pay more for in the shopping alleys/malls. The bar is good (nothing great). Attractive night-time scenary at the top of this hotel. The rooms are quite nice actually. Wi-Fi is great. A/C is good. Beds are somewhat hard, but I’ve slept on worse in other hotels. Two shower heads in the room I was in. CONCLUSION: This is a good 3 to 4 star hotel- but the location makes me never to want to go back there again unless they had more (standard) stuff to offer (I.e. a pool, spa, jacuzzi). You get what you pay for...

Hong Kong is ideal weather-wise October and November- perfect for outdoor market shopping.

worth its reasonable price

Great hotel for its reasonable price. Excellent service: gave us baby crib and extra blankets right away upon request. Decent size room for Hong Kong.

Traveller's tip on dining

Near Thai town. A lot of good Thai restaurants near by.

Not Happy

We asked for a cot but didn’t get one. I asked for extra pillows and got one tiny one. One night room service refused to bring a hot chocolate and another night it took the 1and a half hours to bring a gin and tonic. The sky bar did the smallest cocktails in the worl and the basement restraunt that housed the international buffet left a lot to be desired. Saying that the 3rd floor cafe was great with very attentive staff. The concierge also was extremely helpful.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

The ladies market and surrounding area is not to be missed. Also a trip to see the Big Buddah is truely amazing.
