An Underated City
Angers we found to be one of the better places to visit in the Loire region and yet there was fewer tourists here than elsewhere. It is an interesting place to visit and the chateau with its tapestry is outstanding. We made the effort to visit the modern tapestries and were glad that we had made the trip as they were stunning. The hotel was very good value and the staff spoke good English, but the underground car park is awful to get in and out of and expensive at ?10 per night. The adjoining restaurant is also good, but has very limited choice for vegetarians.
Visit the chateau and take the trip to see the modern tapestries. Most places seem to be closed on Monday mornings. Visit Chateau Montgeoffrey nearby and be prepared to wait for the guide.
