The hotel exceeds expectations
Railway station hotels are frequently sub standard. The Husa Chamartin is not. It fully deserves its 4 star rating. Comfortable, clean & good breakfasts. Very convenient for travel links. Beds a little dated & due for replacement.
Perfect for transport links.

Husa Chamartin is located in a very convenient area right next to the subway and train station.
I have stayed there twice and I have been satisfied with the location , the cleanliness and services of teh hotel. The hotel is located halfway between the airport and the downtown area of Madrid. You can get there from the airport by taking the subway for 2 euros. The station is right next to the hotel (few walking steps and you are in teh hotel). For 11 euros a day you can get unlimited access to the subway and be able to go wherever you want in Madrid. There are plenty of restaurants inside the train station where you can have a cheap breakfast or lunch.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Take the train from/to the airport. It is extremely easy and a lot cheaper than taking a taxi or renting a car.

Not the best
The one good thing was the efficient air conditioning, the importance of which with August temperatures of 38 degrees, should not be underestimated. However if you like a really hard bed this is the place to stay. I found it uncomfortable and for this reason alone would never stay there again. Excellent if you are using Charmain station (which has lots of conveniences, cafes, convenience stores etc)
