Good for what its worth
The Best Western Gregory Hotel overall is in a nice little neighborhood in the bay ridge area of Brooklyn. Hospitality was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is a little out of the way, but for the price, it was a great place for us to stay while we visited the Brooklyn Art Museum and area. If you rent a car and able to find parking along the neighboring streets, its free, otherwise there will be a valet charge. Shopping, restaurants and the subway are all within walking distance. And because it was in a neighborhood, you didnt the frenzy of staying at a huge hotel or waiting in lines to check-in or out. It went beyond our expectations.

Overall good, but a few drawbacks
The problems I had were: 1) Asked for shaving cream at the front desk, but was told there was none. The welcome binder describing the hotels amenities claimed that I could just call the front desk and get toiletries when I needed them. 2) Per-day charge for the in-room safe. Not explained anywhere before checking in, plus its just ridiculous. 3) No refrigerators or microwaves in the room. I think you could get a fridge if you paid extra, but without a microwave, it would be pretty useless. I had a microwave and refrigerator at every other hotel Ive stayed in, including a cheapie motel. Other than those things, my room was comfortable and clean, the hotel was quiet in general, the staff was friendly but not overbearing. The price wasnt too bad for New York.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
The per-day room rates at this hotel are lower than hotels in Manhattan, but its pretty far out in Brooklyn, and you may end up spending the difference on cab fare. Bay Ridge is a nice neighborhood; I used to live there and knew my way around. Someone who is not from New York and only has travel guides to tourist-heavy areas may have a hard time figuring things out and may not like the commute time into Manhattan.
