A great little hotel in a perfect location!

We found the staff friendly and efficient. For instance we asked for extra pillows and they were delivered straight away plus we wanted to know if the Vienna Card is valid all the way to Grinzing, the lady at the reception wasn’t 100% sure so to be on the safe side she phoned Wiener Linien immediately and confirmed it for us. Perfect! The facilities and rooms are very good as well. The room was quiet and large, the bathroom was twice the size our own at home! Bed’s were comfortable as were the duvet & pillows, hot water was HOT (there’s shower and a bath) and the breakfast was tasty and filling, coffees and teas arrived within minutes of us sitting down! The location is absolutely perfect for visiting the city as well. It’s a three minute walk to the nearest U-bahn station (Taubstummengasse) and it takes about five minutes to get into centre of town. The station is on the red U1 line which "cuts" the city in half so changing to other lines is super easy. Trams run right in front of the hotel as well and if you wanted to walk into town it would take about 20 minutes. There is a supermarket Billa about 40 meters from the hotel door (to the left), handy for those snacks and a bottle of wine! There is plenty of typical Austrian restaurants and bars nearby, all within a 10 minute walk. We will no doubt be back so in the meantime thanks again and keep up the good work!

Traveller's tip

Taubstummengasse station has several exits. The nearest one to the hotel is: when coming from town get off the train, turn left, walk to the end of the platform, up the escalators, take the left exit. On the street level carry straight on, take the first street on the left, carry on about 50 meters, then the first right, walk past the fountain in Mozartplatz to the the left, then turn right at the end of the street and the hotel is about 30 meters on your right.

it was ok!

The hotel was conveniently sited to get to the places we wanted to go to. The food at breakfast was good, in selection and taste. Tea & coffee are available day & night, but was usually cold!!! So we were glad we had taken a travel kettle with us. Our room was spotless, but on the small side. It was ok for three nights, but would have wanted a larger one for a longer stay. The staff were mainly helpful and pleasant. Must admit, we wouldn’t go back to that particular one! But it suited us for the time we were there.

Traveller's tip

To get maximum time in Vienna, try to book into a hotel right in the centre. Most places are accessible on foot. although a busy place, there were no problems with crossing the roads. Everywhere is spotless, and the people are most welcoming. Viennese food, especially the cakes (!), is very good and reasonably priced. Wonderful buildings and parks.

Not as advertised

The room was extremely small and cramped, and I paid more than was reasonable. Its location was far from any of the sights I was interested in and the taxis were expensive. The breakfast buffet was adequate but the hotel was dark and austere, especially the breakfast room.
