good base

Overall the hotel fitted our requirements with a very good restaurant and a clean and well looked after pool area and beach - though finding these could be fun as the villas are arranged in a rabbit warren style of design on a fairly steep hill with a lot of stairs - we were lost several times which just added to the fun ;0)! It was a westernised hotel ( definatley not for back packers)and because of this you pay westernised prices for faciilites and food - but just outside the hotel are some good restaurants in particular the Fishermans Outlet which was wonderful for food, service, friendliness and value. The Hotel was a very good base to tour from, being ’at the bottom’ of the island and it was very easy and economical to hire a car- not to mention safer given the ’no rules we could work out’ Thai style of driving mopeds - hiring a moped is only for the brave!!Don’t depend on last minute decisions to use the shuttle service from the hotel to Chaweng/Lamai beach - it was always full up and you really need to book ahead. We only had one problem and that was with the shower which despite being ’fixed’ 3 times could only be tricked into giving out lukewarm water at low pressure - any more and the shower went cold. We gave up trying to get this fixed and settled for luke warm but it took the edge off an otherwise very good holiday.

Traveller's tip on dining

Small local restaurants are well worth trying with courteous service and excellent value, for very little money food from even the most unpromising looking ’shack’. Don’t judge places to eat by their look - they will always surprise you in a positive way- we had several very good meals in clean friendly surroundings in what looked like a shanty town shack from the road. The Fishermans Outlet down the hill from the hotel was wonderful for quality, value and friendliness + the food was to die for!

Absolutely Fabulous

Our room was beautiful exactly like the pictures we saw before we went. The staff were friendly and very, very helpful nothing was too much for them to help with. Our room was cleaned everyday. The pools were gorgeous as was the beach and the surrounding were great. They have a variety of activities you can do whilst you are there at very reasonable prices. It is quite out of the way so if you wanted to go for the hustle and bustle and night life this may not be the place for you, although they do have a free bus if you want to out and about. If you want a totally chilled and relaxed time this would be the place for you. Be warned though there are a lot of steps so if you aren’t very mobile it wouldn’t be a good idea to stay here. We loved it and would definately go back.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You may find the restaurant quite expensive (about the same price as England) so about a five minute walk down the hill there are 2 restaurants and a bar which are very reasonably priced.

Best holiday I have had

The hotel was 100% in every way. If there was anything which was a slight dissapointment was the prices charged for drinks, in relation to outside hotel. But we would not hesitate to return. And hopefully will.

Traveller's tip on nightlife

Try the Indian house bar on the beach in Chaweng for a friendly drink and meal under the palm trees..
