Very Cozy, Very Convenient, but a bit old.

This hotel was in a very convenient location. It was a walkable distance to Raley’s grocery store, nearby shopping locations, and the Heavenly gondola. The one-bedroom suite was very cozy and had access to a patio/garden. It was fully stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, paper towels... pretty much everything you need to cook in the room. The heater system worked well to keep us warm in the cold weather. The pull out sofa bed was comfortable to sleep in. However, the extra blanket I pulled out of the closet looked so old that I really didn’t want to touch it. The carpets were also worn out, but it’s understandable since people walk in and out with snow on their shoes. Overall, I had a good experience staying at this hotel. The staff was also great- they were nice enough to upgrade us to the suite!

If you want to save some money and not skii/snowboard, it is good to go in between the summer and winter seasons. You can enjoy the lake and just hang around. Lake Tahoe is pretty empty in October so you’ll probably get an upgrade at the hotel.

Great Stay!

I recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be in the best location for the money in South Lake Tahoe. The setting is quite beautiful as the hotel is nestled among beautiful, forest-like landscaping. The gondola’s that take you up Heavenly Pass go right over the top of the hotel and there is a sidewalk that takes you directly down to the square where the gondola’s are located. Here you can find shopping, dining, coffee shops, and even ice skating in the winter. The grocery store is also right across the street which was extremely convenient! The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful- we even got a complimentary upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen and a sliding glass door that went right out to the pool/spa. This room could easily sleep 6 people (2 king beds, a twin, and a sofa) and I would certainly recommend it for families. The complimentary breakfast was also good. Now for my complaints...the hallways smelled very musty and they weren’t too clean either. When the person above us took a shower one night, the pipes made a horrendously loud sound. The mattress was hard and not very comfy. The bedding and ample amount of pillows was great, however, and sort of made up for the bed. All in all, for the price and location you simply can’t beat it. We would stay here again.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

There is an awesome Christmas store in the Safeway shopping center across the street next to Starbucks. I don’t recommend the Blue Dog pizza place, however. Our pizza was expensive, and burnt.

Great place to stay in Tahoe

This was our second stay at Forest Suites Resort in the past year and have not been disappointed. Both times we were given a free upgrade to a suite which was great. The place is not fancy but clean and resonably priced with a decent breakfast.
