Luxury with First Class Service - Highly Recommended
If you are going to Marseille I highly recommend the Sofitel Vieux Port. The rooms are comfortable to the point of being luxurious, and are beautifully appointed. The bar gives excellent service with great bar snacks and the restaurant is top-class (albeit with prices to match). The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel. I would give it five and a half !

Fantastic
The hotel offered us an upgrade to a Port view room and it was well worth it. The Old Port is psecracular. The hotel is conveniently located and the staff very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast at the hotel is expensive and the nearby cafes and restaurants have good food available til late morning.

Great Hotel but Poor Location
It was all you would expect from a luxury hotel but sadly, separated from the Old Port by a seriously complex highway system which had to be negotiated on foot. On the other hand, Marseille Airort is modern and comfortable, and absolutely empty at the time of our visit.
Traveller's tip on dining
Excellent selection of reastaurants within 10 minutes walk ar ound the Old Port.
