A trip into an elegant past
This hotel was formerly a palace and still maintains an elegance of bygone times. It sits at the top of a hill and overlooks the city of Vienna. A delightful breakfast is served each day for an additional cost as well as tea and pastries during the day also for an additional cost. The rooms are large, the bathrooms a bit dated but it is clean and safe. One does have to take the subway and then a bus to get there from the city but it only takes about 25 minutes since trains and buses are running continuously. One can use the internet in the lobby.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Definitely get the 3 day Vienna pass, the transit system is excellent. Check out the National Market which has great restaurants and vendors of all kinds. It is packed on Saturday when the Austrians spend a leisurely day of shopping, wine drinking and dining. The Ausberg Palace has an instrumental, opera and ballet combination program that is most enjoyable. We bought these tickets in St. Stephens square.

Very nice place but quite far from everything
This building is a historical building. It served as an embassy around WWI. In WWII, it served as a hospital. It is quite impressive. However, it is quite far from the center of Vienna. You need to either take a taxi, or drive a car, to get to the hotel. So if you are walking through Vienna, look for another hotel. If you have your own car, it is a place worth considering.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
No public transportation to this hotel. Otherwise, very nice place to stay.
