Elevator: Yes, But it May Not Go to Your Room

A nice, small boutique hotel in the fashionable Montparnasse district. I got an incredible price for my one night. It was about one-third to one-fourth the price of hotels in the Notre Dame area and about 50% of the price my friend paid at a nearby hotel. I was prepared for the worst. After all, it was just one night. However, It was mostly good. The small hotel (maybe 20 rooms) was very clean and nicely decorated. The room was small, but reasonable size by Paris standards. The room looked like it had been renovated within the last year, maybe two. The clerk could have been friendlier, but many would probably find him charming. So why the cheap price? When I checked in, Rm 26, I went to the elevator, went to floor 2 and saw rooms 20-24, but no 26. On returning to the desk, a service man informed me that 26 was in the back. It was with no elevator access. Up two flights of stairs. Fortunately, I was traveling fairly light, and my knees were cooperating. However, anyone carrying extra luggage, or who has traveling climbing stairs would be in bad shape. So, a decent place for a decent price. Just make sure that you get a room in the front if you have trouble with stairs.

Nice place to stay

We read others’ reviews before booking and carefully took into account the differences in what to expect in Paris versus in the US. Taking that into account, this hotel was just what we expected. We weren’t after luxury, we were after affordability and basically a place to sleep. The neighborhood is typical Paris (as one who’s lived there for a couple of years) and offers excellent variety in Metro lines. Would definitely stay there again.

Happy overall

Central and convenient location, in a nice area of Paris which is also not too touristy. Room was clean and big enough not to be uncomfortable. No view - looked onto back of another building. Staff helpful and friendly.

Terrible experience

-dirty, ichy sheets with holes burned into them -smoky, miniscule rooms (even thought the hotel advertises itself as completely non-smoking) -I know service is notoriously bad in france, but the service here was absolutely laughable. People at the front desk were incredibly rude. -I picked htis place because I found a cheap deal on expedia and my french boyfriend said the nieghborhood was good and accessible. There are lots of hotels in this area (st. germain/latin quarter), and probably around the same price range. Choose another one if you want to be in this region. This hotel sucked. Seriously, I stayed in a hostile in london a week after I stayed here (for a 1/4th of hte price) and the accomidations were cleaner.

Nice place to stay

A good base from which to visit Paris, good clean room and bathroom with the metro and lots of places to eat nearby.

Great Service, Mediocre Room

Great location, very good service, friendly staff but rooms are small and blankets were worn, though warm. The rooms were cleaned every day except when we arrived the bathroom had some red spots that we wiped ourselves before using it. I would recommend it as it is a good value.

Nice hotel... but don’t spend too much time in the room

For a 3 star hotel, the location was superb and the room was small but tidy. Comfortable and . Didn’t try the breakfast, but would recommend just finding a local patisserie nearby and pick up something. Also down the street must be the most crepe joints per square foot in the world. That and there’s a small convenience store and a beer bar across the street that are open late.

Good, clean, basic

I notice other people disliked this hotel. Seemed fine to me as a base for one night. Clean, basic facilities all present and correct. No problems with noise or smells mentioned by others thought I kept the double glazed windows shut - this is central Paris, after all. Plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Good location

Great location, friendly staff & pretty good value for money considering most hotels near Montparnasse are at least 50 euros more. Room was small but adequate (only needed to sleep in) however would say that general decor and fittings are possibly on the wrong side of retro.

A lousy hotel in Paris

If you enjoy the smell of Korean food and carrying up your luggage up three floors (elevator were broken), you are at the right hotel. The rooms are very old and no service at all. What a lousy expensive hotel.

Hotel condition

Location is normal. The size of room is too small for 2 people.
