Elevator: Yes, But it May Not Go to Your Room
A nice, small boutique hotel in the fashionable Montparnasse district. I got an incredible price for my one night. It was about one-third to one-fourth the price of hotels in the Notre Dame area and about 50% of the price my friend paid at a nearby hotel. I was prepared for the worst. After all, it was just one night. However, It was mostly good. The small hotel (maybe 20 rooms) was very clean and nicely decorated. The room was small, but reasonable size by Paris standards. The room looked like it had been renovated within the last year, maybe two. The clerk could have been friendlier, but many would probably find him charming. So why the cheap price? When I checked in, Rm 26, I went to the elevator, went to floor 2 and saw rooms 20-24, but no 26. On returning to the desk, a service man informed me that 26 was in the back. It was with no elevator access. Up two flights of stairs. Fortunately, I was traveling fairly light, and my knees were cooperating. However, anyone carrying extra luggage, or who has traveling climbing stairs would be in bad shape. So, a decent place for a decent price. Just make sure that you get a room in the front if you have trouble with stairs.
