Dirty, Dirty, Dirty.
We were very disappointed in the accomodations, although the location, for Marseilles, wasn’t bad, the room was falling apart and so filthy we could barely stand it. If it was not already paid for, we would have left early.

A room to sleep in - nothing else!
Hotel was very central, heart of the ’North African’ district and only few hundred yards from the rail/ bus station. Foyer & staff very presentable, but rest of the place could do with a good refurbishment. Room was exactly what we wanted - somewhere to sleep - but could have done with some TLC and a few basic amenities - eg kettle, anti slip mat, shower screen, etc. The walls were flexible and grubby, with a couple of holes ’punched’ through them

Ok hotel but not for a holiday
I travelled to Marseille in order to get to know the city for a couple of days, and had a great time. New Hotel Select is very central and not too expensive- a short walk away from the station and from the Vieux Port. However it borders the shady quarter of Marseille and has a few unsightly characters hanging around, espescially intimidating for a girl. Not a scenic location for a hotel, quite noisy but definitely good if you just want to crash for a couple of nights.
