Large, comfortable hotel
The Bahia is a large, good quality hotel - well placed for the older part of the town, but a very long way from the beaches. Facilities are what would be expected for a hotel in this price range. We had a comfortable stay there and found the staff generally very helpful. Can’t comment on the meals because we are vegetarian and despite a request to the waiter they simply couldn’t suggest anything, so we found somewhere else (not easy in Spain!). The buffet breakfast was good.

Handy for the Brittany Ferry
We have stayed at the Bahia on many occasions when travelling home by car from Spain to UK. We usally arrive at the hotel late in the evening after a 10 hour drive from our apartment in Costa del Sol so it is important to have a good night’s sleep in a comfortable. hotel before boarding the ferry the following day. The underground secure car park is also essential when we have a fully loaded car. The entrance to the underground car park can be rather confusing on the first visit but easy after that. The ferry docks just opposite the hotel, which could not be more comforting and convenient. The Bahia is almost one of the first landmarks you see when arriving in Santander on the ferry from UK. The staff are friendly and helpful, all speaking good English. We personally would enjoy the addition of tea making facilities in our room. We will continue to book into the Bahia on future journeys by that route and would recommend it to other travellers.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
After checking out of the hotel, travellors will find plenty of shops for last minute shopping. We enjoy driving along the coast where there are some lovely sandy beaches and it is exciting watching the ferry come in to where the pilot climbs on board to guide the huge vessel in. .
