Wonderful, enjoyable week-would definitely go back

Our week in Budapest was enhanced by our stay at the Korona. Our room was spacious, pleasant and clean. The area around the hotel is quiet and pleasant. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and helped us out with all our needs, including directions on getting around the city. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, and the attached restaurant serves excellent food for lunch and dinner.

Traveller's tip

The bus to connect with anywhere in Budapest stops right in front of the hotel. A parking lot is also available.

Very Good

Although, as mentioned by others, this hotel is out of the city, it is very easy to get into the centre using the trams & buses (bus-stop directly outside the hotel). There were a few minor problems (not enough hot water in the sink, neigbouring dogs barking incessantly) but on the whole, for the price, the hotel, staff and breakfast were all very good.

Great People - Bad Location - Good Price

When the price is nice, there is usually a reason. The hotel was a bit further from the city than we had thought. Although the public transportation system is easy to figure out, the bus schedule/stops were not convenient. I would guesstimate that, to walk to the bus stop (which could be a half mile away depending on the day and time) and to get from the hotel area to the river via the bus was about 30-45 minutes. A taxi ride is probably around 15 minutes - but these can get expensive and can cancel out the money you were trying to save getting a cheaper hotel. However, the employees were friendly, polite and helpful. The breakfast was AWESOME! Fruit Soup and Chocolate Croissants - and plenty of other well made breakfast staples - YUMMY :) The dinner entrees at the attached restaurant were also good and the restaurant staff were nice and accommodating. So, if you are looking for a great hotel for a cheaper price and don’t mind the commute - this hotel is your best bet.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t be afraid to eat - the food in Budapest was the best I have ever had! -Except for the gulosh (SP?)- Though European food in general tends to be better since it is a lot less processed. I was able to have 3 full squares per day plus desert after lunch AND dinner - and actually ended up losing weight from all the walking every day.
