Best place to stay on Moorea
Dont go to Tahiti unless you can afford to stay in an over-water-room. And dont stay on Moorea unless you can stay at the Hilton. Their over-water-rooms have 2 levels of decks that get you right down into the water into the best lagoon in Tahiti. In the mornings you can see whales (in season) from your bed. No other hotel on Moorea has exactly this situation. The rooms were just renovated and are beautiful.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Expect communication problems unless you speak French. Limited resources means everything is very expensive. Expect a much slower pace and less pampering than youd get elsewhere. Force yourself to relax and enjoy this paradise WITH the Tahitians. If you are overly-demanding you wont get any attention at all. Disney didnt design this place so pay attention to safety instructions, particularly in the water.
