Could have done better..
Expedia discount took it into mid-price range (for the now very expensive) Singapore market. Worth it at the discounted price - but not, in my opinion, at full list price. Check in process was poor - after long incoming flight, disappointed to find only 1 desk open at 6.00pm, 4 or 5 guests ahead of me, and a group of European tourists trying to jump the queue to ask routine questions their tour guide should have been handling. In spite of pre-booking and arriving at a normal hour for check-in, I was offered the choice of: take a room on a smoking floor, or face an indeterminate wait for a non-smoking floor - reluctantly chose the smoking floor. Room was clean, functional and comfortable, and in fairness, a/c was good enough for me not to notice smoky residue after 10 mins or so. Left before breakfast in morning - was offered a take out, but declined.
If you have only light luggage, MRT trains from 2 blocks down the road are S$1.80 to/from airport as against S$20+ in taxi. Clean and safe. Buy a stored value card at the ticket office for cheapest fares.

Orchard Hotel - Great
I’m glad I stayed at the Orchard Hotel in Orchard. First class hotel in a nice clean district. I caught a shuttle bus at the airport and watched other travelers go to hotels in littel India and chinatown and Geyland and it was a dump. When I got to the Orchard Hotel I was relieved it was a class Hotel. The only other place that matches Orchard is Clarke Quay.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Get yourself a tourist card at the MRT ticket office and use the subway. It’s cheap and fast.

Location Perfect!
great location on orchard road. lovely breakfast. rooms decent nothing amazing but for the price did the job for us. we where only visiting singapore for a few days so just needed somewhere central to everything and this was perfect. orchard road metro station 10 minutes walk which gets you roght round the city. taxi from the airport roughly 25 sing dollars. only downside was the price of drinks in the hotel which is normal. but they are astronomical here. if your not planning to sit in though the location is all that matters. nice pool, gym and sauna would deffo stay here again if we visited singapore
