Courtyard by Marriott Emeryville

Nice hotel -- great location.

We stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Emeryville January 28-31, 2010. I was VERY impressed for the amount I spent. Super close to the airport. There is a mall right across the street that has restaurants (Elephant Bar, California Pizza Kitchen, Pomodoro, Rubios), AMC movie theatre and shopping. Very convenient. Many of the restaurants are open until 11pm on weekends. Cable TV in rooms for no extra charge. That was great. Hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. FYI: Parking rate at the hotel is decent.The "Bay View King" has a small window, and the view goes like this: parking lot-freeway-THEN the bay. We were able to see Golden Gate one day of the 4 we spent there...mostly saw Bay Bridge. Overall we liked it and would spend the extra money to get the bay view again.

Perfect hotel for economy business travel

This hotel has the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on, and was extremely quiet. I had a wonderful view of the bay. The desk staff was very helpful to me and really went out of their way. Having free internet access in the room is very convenient. What the hotel lacks in quirky Bay Area charm is more than made up in comfort and convenience.

Overall, an excellent experience. My only concern would be regarding the security of the parking lot.

Comfortable Beds

The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. For the price and ratings, I expected a bit more in the rooms. There was only one desk chair in the room, no sofa, no stuffed chairs. The room service is limited as are the resturant and bar hours. We were out late and had missed dinner. It was midnight and the only local food was a Denny’s (which was packed) and one drive thru fast food (which I refuse to eat). However the staff was polite and quick. The is daytime shopping near by. Overall, it is a good place to sleep, but nothing else.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Some people may like this for the shopping but the stores are typical and overpriced. It is near a Trader Joes, you may want to stock up since food is scare during non-traditional hours. Good for Oracle events or a trip to SF.

Nice place

My husband and I really enjoyed the hotel, and its location. It was comfortable and clean, had an indoor pool and gym, overall very nice.

The hotel is well located - very upscale. Complete with all the best amenities. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the high-speed internet flawlessly accessible, and the retuarants were first class.

Great with kids

We brought our 3 kids. There’s an indoor pool and a small store with ice cream in the lobby. Staff was very helpful with directions, etc.

It was okay

The hotel was clean and nice. The staff were polite and friendly. For less money, and no parking fees, you can stay a block away at the Four Points Sheridan. The Sheridan was less expensive, more comfortable and nicer. Both were clean and nice. Marriott had a larger and nicer bar and restaurant.

Convenient to Berkeley

Very nice room. Rooms facing the Bay are very quiet despite interstate. Extremely easy to get on and off I 80. Good shopping and entertainment next door. The parking lot always had lots of available spots. It is within ten minutes of the campus at UC-Berkeley. Only complaint is that parking was extra each day and no mention of this was made when booking.

Always try to stay here. Prices vary due to season. Would be nice if they included breakfast every time. Convenient to everything. Parking lot used by many shoppers (across street) and can be a problem.

A little difficult to get to for first time travelers. Watch Interstate exit instructions carefully and stay in right lane.

Courtyard

Internet on 11th floor was poor, used wireless in lobby. Breakfast is overpriced for weekday, other options in vicinity offer better value. Other lodging choices in area offer better value for the dollar.

Nice place to stay

Emeryville is getting to be a convenient and hopping place for shopping. We were doing a bunch of stuff w/ family in the East Bay and it ended up being extremely easy to get up to Berkeley, down to Oakland, and going on 24. The hotel was convenient, pleasant, not particularly spectacular, but it was a nice relaxed spot. Some of the late staff were particularly nice and didn’t give us attitude when we were buying from their convenience store even though we were taking a long time.

convenient to berkeley and S.F.

very nice hotel, good size room and big bathroom. good location with freeway access to bay bridge and close to u.c.-berkeley. parking is free, which is a big plus if you’re planning to use a car to tour san francisco and the bay area.

wonderful family option

centrally located (in terms of the bay area). easy access to SF, oakland/east bay, marin, sacremento/tahoe. very "new" feeling. love love love it that the entire hotel is smoke-free...wonderful! the pool area is very nice for kids. the gym is okay. the free wireless wasn’t so wonderful in the common area, but since most of our trip was for leisure, it didn’t matter this time (certainly would if this would’ve been a working trip). parking is sufficient. it’s across street from very pleasant, albeit gentrified shopping area. we will definitely try to stay there again once back in bay area.
