Not Impressed
Wasnt impressed.Hotel is extremely dated. Was probably top class back in the 1900s as marble walls etc but very old fashioned.Needs modernising.Rooms had no shower, only a bath. The only good point I found was that it is in a superb location near city centre and train station.

Could try harder
First impressions were of a very impressive hotel, but once you get inside it becomes a little shabby and run down. The room was spacious, bed comfortable and an excellent shower. But the window was dirty and one pane cracked and couldnt be shut. Also despite electric equipment having safety test stickers on them no test dates had been completed and the trouser press was clearly broken. However the biggest irritation was the housekeeping team. The second morning the sheets were not changed despite being dirty. So the third morning we stripped them off completely to show they needed changing and they will still put back on. Overall not a bad place to stay if you just want somewhere to rest your head in the centre of Liverpool, but could be much better cared for.

Best UK value
For what we paid this was the best value hotel we have used in the UK. The room was spacious and interestingly old fashioned style. We asked if we had been lucky with our room, but were told that all were of a similar standard.
We had dinner in the carvery. Very good value was made better by wine at £6.95 per bottle.
