Convenient but Dated
Hotel Barocco is very typical of many European hotels. The rooms are small, noisy, and somewhat dated - but the location is very convenient (& close to a metro stop). The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was average - typical European buffet.

Great location, great service
I stayed for 6 nights with my family - wife and 2 small children - in a suite. Room 39 to be precise. The stay exceeded our expectations, which were already quite high given that it has received such favourable traveller reviews. The location is excellent - on a busy but pleasant square at the bottom of the Via Vittorio Veneto. The Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain are easily walkable and there are loads of shops and restaurants in the surrounding streets. There is a metro station within 50 metres and there are regular bus stops on the square, plus stops for various open top bus tours, which we found to be the best way of getting around the city. The hotels breakfast buffet is plentiful and varied. There is a bar which offers bar snacks for those who arrive late, are tired, dont want to step out the hotel etc.
Our children are 6 and 4. They loved 1) the Pincio Gardens, reached from Piazza del Popolo or the Spanish Steps, where there is a small fun fair and you can hire bicycles, go karts, segways etc (best day to visit: Sunday) and 2) the Explora Museum for children on the Via Fluminia, reached from the Piazza del Popolo, which is part educational and part fun and has plenty of hands on exhibits.

An "ok" hotel
The location was good, the hotel was very clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful, but the twin beds and small shower stalls were not to our liking.
