Just what we were looking for
Had an excellent stay at the hotel. The staff were all friendly and willing to help, and the hotel was clean warm and well looked after. Great location right next to the Basilica, and also some nice restaurants within easy walking distance. The metro is only a short walk away, but we didnt use it finding walking from place to place far better so as not to miss anything. As has been mentioned the roof top dining area has some wonderful views, especially at breakfast times as the sun is just peaking the hills around Rome. The hotel is well placed for all of the main attractions in Rome, and as i stated we walked to all of them without any problems. Highly recommended.
Some of the smaller day to day food items you will need, soft drinks etc, can work out epensive if bought inside restaurants etc. You will see the odd small shop selling umbrellas etc, and also food vendors selling hot dogs and other items from vans. These work out to be far cheaper in the long run. Example: 2 cokes in a restaurant = 8 euros 2 cokes from vendor = 2 euros 40. Easy maths.

Well looked after in Rome
The standard of service and attention to detail in this hotel was excellent. We loved the jaccuzi bath. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the most delicious fresh pastries which were replenished frequently. The hotel has its own gelaterie which is also excellent. Our only criticism was that the room was hot, it seemed to be heated 24 hrs a day despite it being approx 18 degrees outside.. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again

Lovely bathroom!
On arrival, we were impressed with the hotel, but quickly slightly disappointed to be led back out onto the street, under some scaffolding, up some steps and into a courtyard surronded by apartment like rooms. The room itself was spacious, well equipped and clean with a fantastic red marble bathroom with jaccuzi bath (which you need for your feet after all the walking), but didnt reflect the glamourous rooms advertised. However, it was extremely quiet, and the main hotel was nice, especially the roof top restaurant. There is a beautiful church at the end of the street, but not much in the way of local restaurants. The hotel is situated in quite a rough area of Rome, with homeless people sleeping in cardboard boxes, amongst piles of rubbish. Having said that, the hotel is nicely situated for the metro and is in walking distance of the Colosseum. We would definitely return to Rome, but would probably choose a hotel in a nicer area with more local restaurants and bars.
Be prepared to pay 11 euros for a pint of beer! The metro is a great way to get around - there are tube trains every minute! It costs 4 euros for a ticket which lasts 24 hours, and you can also use it on the buses.
