Clean and comfortable but don’t expect to get a lie in
The location is excellent for those who want to travel via bus or train. The hotel is directly across the road from Bochum Hauptbahnhof and the bus terminus and is situated within a 5 minute walk from the main shopping area. The hotel itself is modern and clean with friendly staff who are more than willing to help. The room (914) was a smoking room and was situated at the back of the hotel, thus away from the traffic noise, although with the excellent double glazing and air conditioning, any noise is unlikely to be a problem unless you have a window open. The room was spacious and light with modern lighting and furnishing and a king size bed. The minibar was adequate, but rather expensive. The coffee making facilities consisted of a kettle and assorted coffee sachets and tea bags. It is quite unusual to find a kettle in hotel rooms in Germany, so this made a nice change and was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel over a slightly cheaper option close by. The bathroom was clean and spacious, with a shower over the bath-tub. I did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot comment on that aspect. There are plenty of good places to eat within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Apart from the disturbance irritation, I recommend this hotel highly. My only gripe with the hotel was the cleaner failing to understand the Do not disturb sign which I placed on the door handle. (see below).
The first day the cleaner tried to get in whilst I was wandering around in a towel, having just showered. The following morning, she hammered on the door whilst I was in bed, having had a late night and wanting a lie-in. This was not appreciated, particularly as the literature relating to the hotel, in the room, states you will not be disturbed if the sign is displayed, which it was on both occasions.

Comfortable
I stayed in this hotel for 1 week whilst visiting the university of Bochum. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice (small) flat screen tvs but as I don’t speak German and find CNN depressing I didn’t really take advantage of them. The only problem I had with the hotel was the cost of connecting to the Internet was far too expensive - aprox 90 euro for 7 days.
