Centrally Located Victorian Gem
Handsome ornate red brick building near Leeds Station. We did find parking on an adjacent street (free on Sunday until 8.00am) but its worth noting that if you arrive by car the hotel has only a handful of spaces, all of which were taken during our stay however there is parking (not cheap) at the station and close by. Lovely reception area, oak staircase and stain glass window. Our room was nicely furnished, comfortable and of a good size. My only disappointment was the Oak room which was very pleasant but the honesty bar was locked when we fancied a drink (apparently unlocked at 5.30), we didnt bother with the over priced breakfast. I was surprised that I had to put a holding fee for each night on my card, Im not sure if this is because wed paid a reduced rate or was their normal procedure but Ive stayed in some pretty nice hotels all over the place and Ive never had to do that before. I would recommend the hotel, as a quiet (we could hear the slight drone of traffic from our ground floor front room but it didnt bother us) discreet base from which to explore the city. A couple of roads away there is a rather nice Pizza Express off a delightful square for local mid-priced eats. Its an old fashioned sort of place with character but with most of the usual facilities youd expect from an expensive hotel.

A high quality hotel
This hotel is in a great location. The service was extremely good and we generally felt it was very good value for the money we paid. The room was spacious, nicely laid out and very clean.
Theres a great restaiurant called Room in Boar Lane which is five mnutes from the hotel.

Great Location and a little bit of luxury
A fantastic location that is very easily accessible if travelling by train. Some reviews that I read before booking suggested that the hotel might not be up to scratch in terms of comfort and service. We found that everything was adequate and it was a big step up from our usual category of hotel ( A special treat) however if you have expectaions of perfection you might find that the service is a little less than first class. For example, when we came back from a day shopping the room still hadnt been serviced and the cleaner had left items in the room, but when we pointed this out at reception the staff were cheerful and rectified the situation. I would however visit again if I was going for a short shopping break in the city.
I would advise taking a short stroll over to Harvey Nichols in the Victoria Quarter and having their wonderful breakfast = cheaper than the hotel and fantastic!
