Perfect crib in Istanbul

Hotel is in Sultanahmed neighborhood - very ancient and "local" neighborhood. Staff was there to meet me at 2AM and negotiated my fare with taxi driver ( Currency is Turkish Lire - NOT Euro. Don;t pay double the fare in Euro). Hotel very clean with excellent bell and wait staff - excellent wireless network for business traveler. Breakfast has large variety and very local fare. Nothing is Istanbul is "close by and convenient" I picked this hotel to experience the older buildings and surroundings. The prayer call wake up from the mosque was "lovely" at 6am... Beds were small and rather hard. When in Rome.... If I wanted a Westin, I would have stayed at home...

When in Rome- Do as the Romans do - enjoy life and the world. Its all we have

Average

The hotel is ok, but its location makes it unsuitable for those with walking difficulties and those with young children, as it is in a steep hill. The service was good, the free breakfasts were basic and disappointing. My main gripe was that despite booking a wake-up call on our day of departure (early morning flight at 1.00am)they failed to wake us up, and as a result our pre arranged taxi had to wait, and we were forced to get up and leave without bathing, washing or eating, to get to the airport in time. We did mage it, but were very uncomfortable.

Good quality for the price

The room was clean, pleasant, and above average size for Eurpoean hotels. The concierge and other staff were knowledgable, very heplful and spoke excellent English. Iate one time at the resturant, good food, service and reasonable price and the view was beautiful. The Continental breakfast was more than adequate in selection and variety. i would recommend this to others.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

If you enjoy walking you are well within walking distance to the attractions of the old city- Blue Mosque, Hagaui Sophia, Topakie Palace, Cistern, Turkish bath, etc. It is a good hill to walk up from the hotel to the main street where these places are but then the city is built on 7 hills.
