Would stay here again tomorrow!
Visited Madrid many times but this was our first stay at Maria Elena Palace. The hotel was fabulous. Location couldnt be better for access to shops and the best eating out barrio in Madrid. Situated in a quiet back street a good nights sleep is guaranteed...unless you stay over the weekend. Thursday night sees the start of the weekend and the opening of the Moon Club two doors down from the hotel. Revelers queue down the street and are very loud at closing time (5am!). Apart from this the hotel was great - staff were polite and extremely helpful. Rooms are spotless and the interior of the hotel is fabulous. Would recommend strongly.
Traveller's tip on dining
If you can handle your drink you may never pay for a meal! Tapas is great in Madrid. Although we did eat out several times we loved the atmosphere and welcome in Taberna Alhambra and La Soberbia bars. If treating yourself to a good meal - would recommend El Lacon (The seafood platter for two is awesome!).

Great location and room for the money
Great location, few minutes walk from 3 different metro stations and Starbucks :) Rooms with 2 beds are substantially bigger than rooms with a queen bed.
