A Great Bargain
Within close proximity to all areas and helpful cabs. Great restaurants. The restaurant in hotel is not opened for lunch but they offered me a sandwich which was superb. 24 hour room service and a good menu with a small lobby bar. Free Wi-Fi was a nice addition. A bargain considerting prices close by. Restaurants, shopping and banks 2 blocks away. Excellent maid service. Definitely not a Hilton but a small botique hotel with very friendly staff.
There are outlet stores on Royal mile - so look before you shop. Some stores are owned by the same companies and families but with different quality of goods. If one store does not have a sale, the companion store might. I took my time and finally found a lovely cashmere sweater 50% off from prices at the higer end of the street.

Good place to stay
Historic building converted from a nurse school, smallish but nice room. The place was quite central to the city, about 5 minutes walk to Grassmarket. It was a very quiet hotel. The only down side was the lack of an AC system in the room. (if there was one I could not find the control panel) And the only window did not open at all.
