We would come again
It was lovely to arrive at Hotel Lido Mediterranne after a long drive and open the bedroom shutters to reveal a stunning view of the beach and sea. The bathroom was perhaps a little tired but the vistas made up for it. There is a nice beach with plenty sunbeds, complimentary towels and drinks service, excellent. Breakfast on the terrace was very pleasant with good service. The only slight draw back was the walk to the cable car. The roads are busy and there are no pavements. You can take a taxi but it is expensive. Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay here.

wonderful views
rooms right on the beach with private balconies, rooms tidied up twice a day and a staff that bent over backwards for us. not many americans, very nice lifegaurd on the private beach. our roomservice took over an hour though, and all we ordered was beer. dinner is very classy, all the waitstaff wears txedos and some of them sang to us. perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. Very few TV channes (we missed the olympics :(
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
theres some little convienience stores down the street that make great deli sandwiches at very resonable prices. good for a cheap lunch picnic on the beach. and the "american bar" by the cable car had the best pasta weve ever had, order the spaghetti with swordfish (the place isnt american at ALL)

Great for beach lovers, not ideal if you want to spend the majority of time in Taormina town centre
Hotel is nice enough. It is great if you want to be by the sea, especially in the mornings. All the rooms look out over the sea. The terrace is nice as well. We didnt have breakfast included in our booking, we paid (quite a lot!) to have breakfast one day and other than the coffee, it wasnt great.
Traveller's tip
If you are on the beach then by about 4pm the sun has gone behind the hill, so you can have a siesta then go up to Taormina for dinner. As mentioned by someone else, it is a hazardous walk to the cablecar - no pavements, and the road is quite narrow with a few bends. That was the only drawback for us during our stay.
