InterCity Hotel - Berlin
We found this hotel to be very nice in a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn style. The full buffet breakfast was very nice but also very expensive (14 euros per person), so after the first day, we had a choice of breakfasts in the adjacent food court and mall. The hotel is conveniently attached to the Ost Banhoff (East Train station),just four stops from the main train station. From the hotel train station we could go two stops to Alexander Platz and link up with the Berlin Metro (U-train) and go anywhere in the city. The hotel employees were very nice and helpful. While the immediate surroundings are not very accomodating, we do recommend the InterCity Hotel for its functionality and convenience to transportation.

Good clean hotel
This is a pretty good hotel at a reasonable price. It is a business type hotel and is extremely clean and well kept. Very good for train/public transport links. Slightly on edge of town though so a lack of eateries in immediate vicinity. However, one stop on train takes you Friedrichshain area which has wide range of good restaurants
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
For food try North African or Thai/Vietnamese in Friedrichshain area. Quite cheap

Excellent in every way!
We went for long weekend arriving by train from Schoenefeld Airport. Excellent train,S- & U-Bahn connections from Ostbahnhof adjacent to hotel. As other reviewers have said, absolutely no indication that you are beside such a main station and rail network. Just so convenient! Had booked queen bed, but given double instead (in English = twin). No difficulty with changing. Staff very helpful. Rooms clean, fresh and comfortable. Beds wonderful to sleep in. Inclusive travel ticket provided by hotel usable on all forms of public transportwhich are very frequent and reliable and saved us a packet. We travelled all over Berlin and used the suggestion of taking a Stadtrundfahrt on a bus the first day to decide where we really wanted to go. Also did not eat at the hotel. At 14euros per head, we ate in the bakers downstairs in the station. Lots of choice in eateries, supermarkets, etc. In this way managed to eat every day the whole day for less than breakfast would have cost in the hotel. Recommend all bakeries for reasonable eats and drinks. Although hotel not in the centre, it is very easy to get absolutely anywhere in or out of Berlin from here. Would definitely go back here rather than any more central location.
