Service with a capital S
Enjoyed our stay at the SAS Royal very much. The breakfast every morning was fantastic. Wide selection of everything you could possibly want and a thermos of extra coffee on every table. Papers in every language to read. Hotel within walking distance to any activity you wanted to participate in. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Was impressed with their conservation of energy by the use of the entry card to control the lights. Also big into recycling. The only thing I would wish for is that they would provide a shuttle service to and from the airport.

Go to the Radisson SAS Atlantic Hotel in Stavanger
Not the Radisson SAS Royal, we booked this hotel because it is the only Expedia listed hotel in Stavanger with a pool. We arranged to arrive two hours early but were told to wait for a further 20 minutes until our rooms were ready. When we returned to reception 20 mins later we were informed by a different receptionist, a surly young girl with long brown hair, that our rooms were still not ready and we would have to wait for another half hour, when we explained that the first receptionist had already enquired about the rooms with the housekeeper earlier, she became very rude and said that the hotel does not have to let people in early and we should be grateful. All the while flight crew and other guests were arriving and checking in immediately with no problem. We camped opposite reception and stared until eventually ten mins later our rooms were suddenly available. All this completely soured the weekend break and we were tempted to cancel and go to the sister hotel down the road which had far nicer views and was closer to the centre of Stavanger. The pool is miniscule and only 3.5 ft deep, the rooms are ok but you are warned by a sign that you cannot pull the plug out of the bath after using as it floods the floor, presumably to stop you having more than one bath. The rooms with any views are reserved for SAS flight crew, we overlooked a chinese restaurant.
