Good Berlin base
The Mark Apart Hotel is a relatively modern building offering quite simple accomodation. Our room was large with two singles/double and a fold down settee - which when down left ample room.There was a small balcony looking out onto the main street - as it was cold we wouldn’t have sat out - there weren’t seats anyway! The street was quite busy. In the area there are quite a few traditional German restaurants which we enjoyed. There is a very broad range of shops locally - good quality and on the pricy side. The Berlin public tansport system is excellent - get a Berlin Welcome Card from airports etc and travel free, discounts at some museums etc. We used the Savingyplatz station - about a 10 minute safe walk from the hotel.

Good Hotel for the money and very helpful staff.
Big clean airy rooms and a good breakfast on the deal I arranged via expedia. A bit of traffic noise from the road at the front which you can ignore after a while considering you are in the heart of the city. There is a good supermarket nearby with long opening hours and fresh produce. The hotel is easy to find. It is a sort of hotel i would expect in a spanish resort as it is not a pretty looking one but i had no complaints re the cleanliness or the amenities at all. The hotel is ideally placed for Ku’Damm area and is not too far a walk from the Zoo. Visited in Oct 2009 and the weather was just becoming cooler. Hotel can sell you all bus/transport tickets which will save you time and effort.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Zoo is a great place if a little sad coz the animals are caged but is one of the best we have ssen. Buy a combined Aquarium/Zoo ticket as you can spend a full day and still not see everything.If it is cold or raining suggest visit aquarium until clearer weather. We found it facinating and it is three floors of reptiles etc and great displays.

Not too shabby
The staff was very helpul, and the hotel is very centrally located. We needed to stay close to Tegel airport, but still close enought to the city so that we could walk around and enjoy. I would recommend this hotel, although its not the fanciest, its great for the price you pay.
