Lovely pool
Our email was ignored for n airport transfer which we were entitled to, so had to take a local delapidated taxi from the airport. 1hr ride! We asked to see 3 rooms as they all smelt of damp! We were slightly jet-lagged so settled for our original room. Got off to a bad start but the city, hotel location and facilities made up for the poor start. Great buffet but only restaurant on site. Lovely park facilities.....HUGE bats fly around the driveway at dusk. Take a flash camera and take pics to make them fly around. They are HUGE!! 5 min walk around the back is a wildlife reserve where the Raj used to hunt tigers. You can see boars, peacocks etc. Also take a sneak view at the Conde Nast hotel with luxury facilities and infinity private pools. We stayed out of season, so prices wew half price :)
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
You can get a auto-ricksaw from the city back to the hotel for 50 rupees out of season. Its a 10 min ride and great fun

Outstanding Hotel
The Trident is a beautiful hotel surrounded by acres of greenery. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Only negatives are that it is somewhat isolated (need to take hotel car to get anywhere) and the restaurant prices are expensive.

Absolutley gorgeous
The Trident was wonderful. Its set in a park-like atmosphere, complete with trails and a wild animal park. Impeccably clean. Very helpful staff. Bounteous breakfast buffet included. Views of everything, and on same property with another hotel that is on Conde Nasts list of top hotels in the world==#6. Only problem was getting taxis or Auto Rickshaws to come out. Hotel preferred to promote a service it had through Avis. Much more expensive than other means, but also nicer cars and English speaking drivers. Would recommend to anyone.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Take a 1/2 day tour with a taxi or car. Its work it. Dont miss the City Palace tour, and use a guide. Not expensive and makes experience richer.
