Lovely Hotel in the Old Town
After a long hard drive from Basle via various mountain passes and an hour or so trying to find the hotel the car started to play up!(signs are wrong and we had forgotten to download a map!) so we parked in an overnight underground car park and called the hotel for help. They told us we were just 5 minute walk away but as wewer so tired they immediately despatched a taxi to collect us and our luggage! In th heart of the old town the Tre-Re lays back behind it’s own gates (own car park had we found it!) just behind the central square that fronts the lake. Our Reception was warm, rooms comfortable and clean. The building itslef is very old with stunning stair cases and features behind a modern reception area. Unfortunately, we were meeting with a large group so we didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant except for breakfast which was lovely!.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Take the Vernicular Railway up to the top for a spectacular view of the lake and Como! Wander the Gardens and the old town! Dine in the open at the Metropole on the Square and try the Veal Milanese - excellent!

Convenient location, good price
This was just a one day stop on the way down to Monte Carlo from Germany. The Hotel is conveniently located near the lake shore and there are several cafe’s right near by. The rooms are by no means elegant and the view was of a construction project. But the staff was helpful considering our late arrival, the room was clean and the private parking is always a plus in Italy. I can recommend it for a 1 or 2 night stay, but longer than that would not have been enjoyable.

All was fine
Good location though a little difficult to find at first. Good breakfast. Hotel was perfectly acceptable and would happily stay again if in the area.
