Great Location
This hotel was great and gave us that old world charm we were looking for during our stay. I would give this hotel a five star rating just for the location alone. Youre literally steps way from the undergound, a starbucks, a bank, a pharmacy, a market, and a pub; what more could you ask for.
Traveller's tip on dining
The Brits eat late so we would go to Partridges about a 1/2 mile down Gloucester Road toward Kensington Park and pick up some wine, bread, and cheese and take it back to our hotel for a late afternoon snack. Also, if youre wanting cut cost for lunch, try the Pret stores all over London (one is across from the hotel) they have ready made sandwiches to purchase to eat there or take away.

Great hotel, but didnt care for location
This hotel is quite nice. For my preference, the location is not ideal. Its walking distance (about 10 minutes depending on your speed) to Dianas and Alberts memorials, and the Royal Albert Hall. It may be close to some museums too, but Im not certain. There are pubs, restaurants across the street, but its generally in a residential type neighborhood. Its great if thats what you like. Also a metro station is right there.

Fantastic location, beautiful building, wonderful service
We couldnt have asked for a better location--immediately next to the Gloucester Road Tube station and many great little restaurants nearby. The hotel was beautiful and our room was quite comfortable and clean. Initially the staff had a few minor problems getting our room sorted out, but they were very polite throughout the week of our stay. On one occasion they went out of their way to heat up and some food we had purchased elsewhere (refrigerated take-out from Harrods) and brought it to our room as if we had ordered room service. (I should mention that we didnt realize we had been given refrigerated food, and the staff at the hotel took pity on us--so this is not a standard service.) In short, we loved our stay and would gladly stay there again.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you plan on staying in the London area for at least 4 or 5 days, I recommend buying an Oyster Card rather than buy individual Tube passes. Youll save a little money and a lot of time, plus it gets you on the public buses, which are very convenient for short trips. You can buy them at Tube stations or at the airport upon your arrival. Plus, with unlimited rides the Oyster Card provides, youll be more inclined to get out and see a lot more of London than might otherwise do.
