Good, Comfortable Experience

Hotel has nice pool both for adults and children and is right on the beach (however there is no direct access to the beach, you need to exit the hotel and walk around to get to it). Food options were great and most of the food is Halal (everything except the bacon). The wait staff will help explain food options to you if needed. We found the meals/drinks to be pricy, but you can usually expect this at nicer hotels (expect to pay about $35/person without alcoholic beverages). Water was $8/bottle and fruit smoothie was $9. If you can get a package with food included it might cost less overall. Staff spoke multiple languages (english, arabic, morroccan, spanish, etc) We only had trouble when communicating with housekeeping/room service in English. Small Taxi’s are super cheap, a 10min ride was about $2. Most taxi’s and some vendors will accept Euros-ask first. Our initial room had a slight odor to it and we requested to move the second day. The staff was very accomodating and moved us as quickly as they could without question. The city center is about a 10min drive from the hotel, there isn’t much close by so expect to eat at the hotel or drive to a restaurant. There is a casino linked to the hotel however we did not check this out. The concierge is very helpful, do not hesitate to ask them questions.

Would never return, would never recommend, terrible value.

The public areas were clean and very grand. However, once you go up the elevator to your rooms, quite another story. The second floor hall carpet was filthy and encrusted with unknown substances in several areas. It was quite unbelievable. The room was tired and in need of detailing. Drapes were in disrepair. Tile flooring looked dirty and was in need of complete replacement. One good point was that the sheets were quite clean and the bed was comfortable. TV worked well. Bathroom was not the cleanest; for some reason the toilet water was brownish. Bathrobe was scratchy and old. The doormen were very nice. This hotel is so far away from the city center. Also, the hotel desk clerks were not friendly in the least. Oh yes, they gave me a crummy view and they tried to make me think I had only booked for one person (fortunately I had my paperwork to disprove that deception), and they tried to get me to upgrade by saying they had given me a smoking floor. Their deception was so transparent and vile. I wouldn’t have given them another dime extra. I didn’t eat in their hotel, nor did I frequent their bars. When I get treated poorly by hotel staff, I’m pretty sure their kitchen people must be surly too. It was too rainy and too late to make a big deal of it. If the weather had been better, I would have been out of there in a heartbeat. Made my last day in Morocco a real let down.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

The rest of Morocco was so much more amazing and wonderful than Tanger. The food was so much better in Marrakech, Fes, Essaouira, Casablanca and Rabat. It does look like there’s a lot of development going on. I hope it improves this city and makes the hotels more competitive.

Attractive hotel but a bit away from town

This is an attractive hotel, particularly the pool area, but is quite away from town meaning you are dependant on an unreliable taxi service. Maintenance is a bit flakey a few damaged items in our room were not repaired during our stay despite being reported the minute we arrived. Cost of food and drink is very high (the price of a 5 star tag!!) Staff very helpful - helped us organise a couple of sightseeing trips. Would stay again but dine outside hotel

Cap Spartel and Asilah well worth a visit
