Good central location
The Grand Chancellor Christchurch is in a good central location. Call for directions first though, if you haven’t been to Christchurch because the streets take some getting used to. Overall a nice hotel at a good price in a beautiful part of the world.

Superb location
This hotel could not be better suituated in Christchurch. You can easily walk in any direction to all parts of the city, from this hotel, or just ask and the helpfull staff will deliver your car to the front door-you have to park it next door in the multi-storey car park.A very pleasant stay in a lovely city.
We got returns on the TranzAlpine train - Christchurch to Greymouth.(55 and over get a discount) You can easily drive to Christchurch Addington station, but even easier is to ask for a free collection from the Grand Chancellor at 7.30.They also drop you back at the end of the day -$5. The TranzAlpine is one of the top 10 train journeys in the World - don’t forget your camera and warm clothing because the train has an open air viewing carriage to take photos of the stupendous scenery!

It was alright
Location was fabulous, but the room wasn’t really up to par. From the lobby, the hotel looks quite fancy, and i’m sure on some floors it is, but the room I had booked via expedia was a little shabby. It was clean, and everything worked, but it definitely needed some maintenance (ie. painting, carpet cleaning, etc). However, for the rate I paid (excellent deal on expedia) I can’t complain too much :-)
