Great for the $, convenient to metro

We stayed at the hotel in August, so the rate was discounted because everyone leaves Madrid in the heat! My brother, sister and I stayed in the room. We had to pay extra for a third person, which was well over half the price of rate, which was a bit lame. The front desk is manned 24 hr, and the front door is locked after midnight, but the deskworker will let you in. There are two small elevators, normal for Europe. Our room had two twin beds, and a loveseat that pulled out into a bed. There was a kitchenette that had two burners (that were too close together to allow for cooking on both of them at the same time) a microwave that might have also been a convection oven, but I didn’t use it. There was also a dorm-sized fridge that actually froze the ice in the freezer! There is a table and three chairs in the room, with a desk and a small dresser. Chairs are not comfortable, but are usable. For a twentyE deposit, you get a key to use the pots and pans located in the room, which included a large pasta pot, sauce pan, frying pan, colander, champagne flutes, tall glasses, dinner plates, salad plates, saucers, coffee cups, coffee maker, cutting board, flatware, sharp knife, maybe some other things... Haven’t gotten my deposit back yet, but it was worth it to be able to cook dinners and lunches for 3 people. The hotel offers an in-room continental breakfast for twelveE-coffee, juice, toast, yogurt, blah and overpriced. There’s a few cafe’s within a few blocks that are more appropriately priced. Annoyingly, you have to get a code for the internet every single day, not for your entire stay. It’s also a twoE charge per day to use the safe in your room. The hotel was really easy to find and very close to the Diego de Leon Metro stop, which was really convenient. It’s a 10 min walk to the bull ring. We weren’t that impressed with the bars near the hotel, but a few were closed because of the August holiday. There’s a SuperSol 2 blocks away and a larger grocery store a few blocks in the other direction. Right by the metro stop, though was either a half-way house or an outpatient recovery clinic. I didn’t really understand the sign. May not be important, but something to be aware of if you are out at night. Overall, we were on a quiet street and felt safe going to and from the hotel at all hours.

Madrid Gem

A great choice, safe, quiet, non-touristy area, #26 bus originates block away & travels to Museum triangle & beyond, metro nearby. Close enough to walk to Prado through beautiful Retiro Park. The Aparthotel’s wonderful clerk/ambassador, Belle, was so helpful about directions, sights, restaurants, etc., it was like having a personal guide. Plus, rooms have stove, refrigerator, sink, pots and pans, utensils and dishes! And the rates are moderate!

Nice family hotel in Madrid

This is a good place to stay for a family (2 adults,2 children) at a reasonable cost and excellent location. The metro is 5 mins away so you can get around Madrid easily. It is approx 20 mins from the Airport, taxi is 25-30 Euros. Receptionist is very helpful and the hotel room was kept clean. If you feel like walking the Ritero Park is 30 mins away (10 mins in the Metro), Sol is not very far on the Metro which is also worth a visit. I would recommend this hotel.

We saved money by going to the local supermarket (5 mins away) for Sangria, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc). Alos make sure you have a phrase book or can speak a little spanish to order food at the restuarants which are slightly cheaper in this area rather than eating in places like Sol.
