Clean, comfortable
The Abando in Bilbao is a nice place to stay. If we go back to Bilbao, we will consider staying there again, depending on the hotel room deals available at the time we book... Very near old town area. Walking distance to Guggenheim. Hotel room very comfortable. Breakfast tolerable, but nothing to write home about - small dining room - coffee was warm (not hot) all 3 days we were there. Appears they do a lot of local business - wedding and parties. Staff friendly & helpful. We booked the Abando based on Expedia user reviews, and were not disappointed.
Traveller's tip
They charge 10E per day for Internet access. Seems a tad high, as most other places we’ve stayed in Europe include Internet for free.

Snarly night clerk. Bad bed
We were looking forward to a 4 star hotel. Unfortuanately, the night hotel clerk, never smiled. The bed was bad with springs poking us. The room had only one small window. We stayed at many 2 star hotels in Spain, which had better service and better rooms. This hotel was a huge disappointment.

Good but...
Everything was good, but the internet connection was not consistent. For someone who needs the internet, the experience was frustrating. Other than that, the room, the location were very good for the price.
