Great time despite the weather’s efforts

Super hotel still ( we were last there 10 years ago) now with many upgrades. Polite and helpful staff, very good food and all in a superb country estate setting overlooking the mighty River Tay. Sadly the rain turned the Tay into a mudbath so fishing came off the agenda replaced by retail theraphy at the marvellous House of Bruar - just 10 minutes up the A9. I defy anyone not to spend their fishing fee there! Great all in break - well done Expedia and Hilton.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Dunkeld itself and real retail theraphy at the marvellous House of Bruar - just 10 minutes up the A9.

Gem in Dunkeld

This is our second visit to this hotel, this time as part of a wedding party.Once again we loved the idyllic surroundings, good food, courteous service and hotel’s facilities. Room well appointed and met our needs. Found the check out billing system confusing as no receipts are given at the time of charging items, meaning that you have to be able to recall all your transactions; this problem was exacerbated by the in-room TV "view bill" system was not operating during our stay.

very disappointing

I have visited Dunkeld many times over the last ten years. It has been over 2 years since since my last visit , so booking a special weekend with guests. Dunkeld seemed an obvious choice. I was very disappointed in the standard of service. Lots of staff running around but they seemed very disorganised. No waiter service at the bar during the day . You have to stand and wait to be served. I n the past you would sit and they would attend to you. Tables in the lounge sitting with dirty cups , plates ect not being cleared. All looked a bit messy . The rooms, whilst there is evidence of new carpeting the fixtures are still the same . Very tired and very dusty. They need better cleaners!!!. Mattress on bed very uncomfortable. No water in the room to drink, which given the price we paid for the room is lacking in foresight. Dinner was served at 9pm as there was no other slot.It tasted as if it had been prepared at 6!!! enough said. Singing and dancing finished at 10.30 so we felt a little short changed there. Too busy wanting to set up for breakfast to care. Sunday morning breakfast finishedat 10. Far too early. Will not go back. Dunkeld should not be rated a 4 ****
