Our hotel of choice
We travel to London 4 or 5 times a year. We always try to stay at the Lancaster London. When we checked in two weeks ago I was not happy with the condition of the room we were given. The wall paper was old and not in good repair and the entire room had a tired look. In all the years we have stayed there it was the first time I have not been happy with the room. I called the desk and was immediately moved to another room which had a great view and was in excellent condition. I have always found the staff very helpful. A plus is that there is on site parking and the Lascaster Gate tube stop on the Central line is adjacent to the hotel. Since I travel with only a small case I can walk the 3 blocks from Paddington Station to the hotel in less than 10 minutes. It is located right across the street from Hyde Park and there are small cafes and restaurants nearby where you get good breakfasts.

My Trip Was Ruined
Basically the hotel was perfect, not to close but fine, Nice that its next to Hyde Park. On arrival i was told there was a problem with my booking, and a "small holding fee" would be taken so i thought thats fine. In all honesty i could hardly understand the man at the desk. He found us a room however the next day my bank card was declinded, i had no idea why so i called my bank, bare in mind this was a Sunday and the only day i would be in London. My bank told me the hotel had not taken the hotel money for my room, but had held it. On top of that they had held £177 of my money for no reason, i have no idea why but it was my spending money and it basically was a wasted trip. I basically went there to come back home. I spent my time in London on the phone between the bank and hotel, with no way of getting my money back until days later. I recieved no apologie or refund.
Use the bikes with trailers at the back to get about, there like taxis but fun.
