we wouldn’t hesitate to go back

We booked the Regina on the strength of expedia/tripadviser reviews and it lived up to our expectations. Comfortable rooms, helpful staff, free use of online computers, and perfect location. Didn’t bother with breakfast - a bit expensive at 16 euros. We used the Zurich on the corner of Placa Catalunya and it was fine. Be careful though, we thought the bottle of wine and crisps/nuts on the table in our room were a welcome gift, but they are in fact part of the minibar.

Great Location in the Eixample neighborhood

If you prefer to spend more time in the newer / modern / urbane area of Barcelona, this location is ideal for a base of operations. Right at Plaza Catalunya and further away from the waterfront is the wonderful Eixample neighborhood. This area has the world-class shopping, restaurants, pleasant surroundings and grand boulevards for strolling day and evening. Safety is much, much better than on Las Ramblas or in the Barre Gotic. [If you are inclined to go there, the hotel is also very convenient, but strongly consider doing those areas in daylight only.] Hotel offers some English language proficiency and ’standard’ types of services and appointments found in better leisure time hotels and popular mid-range business hotels. In room safes are a welcome amenity. This was our second stay at the Hotel Regina. Obviously, we were initially positively inclined by the property in order to become repeat users.

Barcelona and surrounding environs justly deserves its reputation as the current center of haute cuisine in Europe. We thoroughly enjoyed two one-Michelin starred establishments. The ’seriously exceeded our expectations’ dining experience was at an un-starred bistro operation of a famous * * * Basque chef who also has a * Michelin starred restaurant accross the street. All of these dining experiences were in Eixample and within walking distance of Hotel Regina.

Great service

Hotel front desk was very accomodating. Arrived at 9 a.m. from the cruise ship and they allowed us to check in since the room was ready.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Great location. Only 1 block from Las Ramblas.
